Normally when you move the mouse, the screensaver goes away. Well, the Acez Software-developed Thanksgiving Shoot-out Screen Saver is different. This is not like a traditional screensaver – this screensaver is interactive and fun. What does that mean? It means that in this screensaver you go hunting for your Thanksgiving dinner.

The screensaver is displays a bunch of turkeys running around on what looks like a grass field. What you have to do is put the mouse cursor over a turkey and shoot it. Once you do so, the turkey turns into a Thanksgiving dinner.

If the turkeys move to fast or too slow for you, you can easily fix this from the Thanksgiving Shoot-out Screen Saver settings. You can get the turkeys to slow down to a crawl, or speed up so that you barely see them.

Here comes the fun part: you have 4 weapons to choose from when it comes to hunting turkeys. There’s a Colt 45, a rifle, a shotgun, and a flame thrower. Each weapon is accompanied by a specific sound effect. If you don’t like to hear anything, you can turn the sound off. When selecting a weapon, I went for the more gruesome choice, for the flame thrower. I have to say I was a bit disappointed – I was expecting some sort of flame effects. On the upside, the sound effect did not disappoint.

Download – the download weighs in at some 1.6MB so it should only take a moment for the download to complete. Not having to wait a long time for a download to complete is always nice.

Installation – you can install Thanksgiving Shoot-out Screen Saver on just about any version of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system. Pay attention during the installation process because Thanksgiving Shoot-out Screen Saver comes bundled with a few extras – RelevantKnowledge, Dealio toolbar, and a free version of The Weather Channel Desktop. If you don’t want these extra bits, click “Decline” and they will not be installed. Because Thanksgiving Shoot-out Screen Saver comes bundled with these extras, your antivirus application may flag the screensaver as dangerous and not let you download/install it.
